Bedford Park Listed Building

This detached house is one of only three of this type in Bedford Park and is unusual as it is set at the back of a large garden giving it the appearance of a country house. Originally an artist’s house, with a studio on the top floor, the accommodation at ground floor level was rather small. With no scope to extend at the rear, Alice designed a contemporary understated extension to the side of the back of the property which links into the main house. As the extension is set away from the house, a basement was granted Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent, giving the family two additional rooms. At the front of the property, a traditional conservatory gives further ground floor accommodation. One of the fireplaces in the house has original De Morgan tiles showing fantastic creatures. These tiles are extremely rare with other examples in the Victorian and Albert Museum.
