Bedford Park Listed Building

Blue is the colour at this Listed house in Bedford Park where Alice Poole Architects redesigned and extended the rear of the house, with the construction of a conservatory to link the kitchen with the rear living room. Alice Poole designed the kitchen units with a nod to Charles Rennie Mackintosh (her favourite architect). The doors feature the insert squares favoured by Mackintosh and Alice chose copper insets to contrast with the blue of the units. The unit design was echoed in the sideboard unit in the conservatory which is used as a dining area. A spiral cellar was installed under the conservatory by Spiral Cellars Ltd and the spoil from the excavation was pure sand showing that the site was on a dried up river bed. Every project has a surprise! The hall and wc were redesigned and gave Alice a chance to design more stained glass with inspiration taken from the floor tiles and wallpaper.
